Participation of Osornina women in sports competitions between 1940-2005

Abstract

Objective: to describe the participation of women in sports in the city of Osorno between 1940 and 2005. Methods: this is a historical-descriptive study of women's competitive sports from its beginnings in the 1940s to the first decade of the 21st century, in which the most outstanding sportswomen are identified. The s The sample comprises 21 women athletes who met the inclusion criteria. For data collection, a structured interview was elaborated according to the following four items: identification, training process, personal development process and achievements. Results and Conclusion: between 1940 and 1980 the level of competition of women from Osorno was amateur, in the 1990s they stood out at the school level, being the time when they had the greatest participation in national and international competitions.
