Abstract

In the origins of humanistic psychology, several authors -including Carl Rogers- emphasized the importance that congruence, self-disclosure and authenticity have in people’s holistic health. Taking this as a stepping stone, the author examines what he considers as a critical moment in history, in which skepticism and cynicism prevail. Finally, he proposes a self development model which considers three levels in each human being: the animal, the properly human, and the divine level.
