Abstract

Neopentecostalism is a new stage of Pentecostalism, which after almost a century of existence in Chile, suffered a rutinization of its charisma. It is a reenchantment of classic pentecostalism, which transforms itself into a transversal movement, hard to territorialize in certain congregations. It is a new kind of charisma, whose predicative interest are not only the popular sectors, but also the middle class. Neopentecostalism has turned aside its attention from its classic religious symbols, adapting its speech to present society, understanding religious life as joy and happiness. These elements are leading to a secularization of chilean pentecostalism.
