Abstract

As part of the development of the Sustainable Development Strategy in the Region of Murcia (EDS), Spain, the author poses as a starting point an analysis-assessing of the status of regional sustainability, which involved the construction of an analysis model and a method for that starting diagnosis. This challenge led to travel the short history of the epistemology of sustainability, claiming that it should be epistemology heuristic, enactive, participative and contingent. This paper develops a holarchy of sustainability -a system of hierarchically related systems- as a framework for strategic action.
