The inquiry about the use of water in a context of globalization and mercantilization of natural resources, is in the core of the author’s analysis. Scarcity is a real problem, but it relates directly to the degradation and over exploitation of natural resources. The struggle for the preservation of water becomes even more urgent when it comes to Third World countries, where material and economic means to treat water are not on hand. The model based on the offer used until know is one of the main causes of water depradation, mainly in what refers to a certain kind of industrial agriculture and the use of the resource by large economical conglomerates for energy generation. The author proposes that only through a citizen’s movement it will be possible to recover the natural beds of rivers, and to install a sustainable model for the use of water.
