The author first presents the conceptual foundations that gave rise to psychoanalysis, pursuing the influences of the time that Freud gets, and arguing that he built psychoanalysis as a science as any other within the territory defined by the natural sciences. He then refers to some topics science leaves out of consideration on which psychoanalysis can contribute: the problem of the subject of science and the problem of thought and the logic of discovery.
