Abstract

"In the words of Enrique López Castellón, 'above all logic, the passions that intersect in the Romancero transcend the sociocultural realm; moreover, they clearly demonstrate the weakness of socially established norms in restraining or channeling primal vital impulses. This is what makes this perspective of the gypsy the most suitable for articulating this Andalusian and universal truth.'

On this occasion, we will focus on the 'Romance de la pena negra' from the Romancero Gitano, although as we delve deeper into its reading, we will observe that it presents a series of thematic recurrences applicable to the entire book as a whole (see note)."
