Abstract

In this article my interest lies in demonstrating the role that this great Chilean poet had in the discourse of modernity of the twentieth century.  The space of the sea has special signification in this poet’s production Because it is a space of resistance at the literary level and also within the political and social context. All spaces have specific signification in Gabriela Mistral’s poetry.  The space of the sea and the dialogical discourse show a particular view of the world where the voices of modernity are emerging.
