Education and ethics in the construction of citizenship: the formation of values in communitarian education

The article reconstructs the "modern cycle " of communitarian education in Latin American from the intellectual output of Paulo Freire, passing through the experience of the Sandinista revolution, the development of democratic movements in South America and the emergence of new social movements in the eighties, to finally reah the nineties, which return to the first Freire ‘s utopia. The author discusses complementarily the ethics of communitarian education and the challenge of building democratic citizenship springing from its values.
