Abstract

The author argues that political ecology not only explores and acts in the field of power which is established within the conflict of interests for the appropriation of nature; but also makes it necessary to rethink politics from a new vision of relations between nature, culture and technology. He then places political ecology in the direction towards dissolution of power concentrated on a privileged minority, action cultivated by the social movements that take shelter under its foliage: a tree with branches that connect different languages, a ‘Babel’ where we can understand each other from our differences. To substantiate his claims, he covers the theoretical and practical components of his discipline.
