The author reinstates the importance of people and their subjectivity in the development process, recognizing that in Latin America the obsessive pursuit of gross domestic product growth, led to losses of another kind in individuals and their social ties. In this sense, argues the need to resettle people in the center of the search for development, and not consider that in the context of a world moving from complexity, you can only try to protect the individual. The proposition is not to impose subjectivity over institutions, but neither it is to erase subjectivity from the technocratic solution.
