Abstract

To identify the concept of nation which had the men that decided the emancipation of Chile from the spanish crown demands an important interpretative work, since the evolution of that idea is a well known phenomenon to the historians of concepts. In that sence, the present analysis helps understanding the context of a never ending discussion, in which, as it is said in the final statement: “The 1810 Government Junta must be one of the most original creations of the chilean institutional history. Nevertheless, even though its creation represents one of the deepest breakthrough’s in our past history, it is not in itself revolutionary”.
