Abstract

The author reviews the development of anti-clericalism during the second half of the nineteenth century, and the gradual imposition on the twentieth of secular liberalism; and in parallel the path of the popular movement focused on the cooperative and mutual aid. In this context, the article analyzes the thinking of Belén de Sarraga -for which the article includdes a selection of texts- and her presence in Chile in 1913 and then in 1915, invited by the radical newspaper La Razon.
