Abstract

The author provides a broad overview on the studies of public transport in Santiago, analyzed as an issue of quality of life. For this he deals with a methodology and statistics of his elaboration occupying information contained in two national newspapers. He concludes that the service is below the minimally acceptable, creating additionally multiple problems and inconvenience to users, thus leading to a pressure for increment in the purchase of private vehicles.
